Local Contrast

Currently, users apply local contrast using an unsharp mask, often struggling to find the right balance between radius and amount. This approach can lead to overexposure or clipping in brighter areas of the image, resulting in an unnatural look.

The radius for local contrast depends on both the subject in the image and its size, which necessitates experimentation and can waste time.

Local contrast enhances an image by adding depth and a three-dimensional appearance, akin to the effect achieved by high-end camera lenses. This technique brings out details and textures, making elements in the image stand out and giving it a more vivid and lifelike quality.
